Yes, it is a story. And yes, it does involve luck. But frankly, luck continues to play a part in a screenwriter’s career even after they’ve broken in. Good luck. Bad luck. It’s important for the writer to work their ass off and be ready for opportunities, while having a steel spine and iron gut to survive when things go south. And they do. I’ve had four greenlit movies crash and burn, one mere weeks before starting production.
