Writing Goals: 2019 [Parts 1–5]

10 part series for writers to consider what we did in 2018 and will do in 2019.

Each day this week, I invited readers to reflect on their writing progress in 2018 and go about the process of setting achievable goals in 2019. Here are links to the first five parts of the 10 part series which will resume tomorrow.

Part 1: Looking Back

Part 2: Assessing Where You Are

Part 3: Where Do You Want To Go As A Writer?

Part 4: Practical Matters

Part 5: Going Public

Whether you participate online here, in the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook group, or privately, this is a great opportunity to do some solid personal work about who you are as a creative and create writing targets for next year to motivate you to maximize your productivity.

I’m going through the process myself and this year is considerably different than recent years because — due to my new position in the world of academia — I need to shift my primary focus from creative writing to writing about the craft. This goes beyond the writing I’ve done for eight plus years on the blog. Now I finally have a context within which I can and will write books — on screenwriting, movies, and creativity.

So join me, won’t you, on this annual journey of self-discovery and if you’re up for it, write a RESPONSE to any/all of the above posts. Then come back Monday for Part 6 of the series which continues through Friday.

Onward!
