WGA & AMPTP Reach Tentative Agreement To End Writers Strike

“We can say, with great pride, that this deal is exceptional — with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership.”

Via Deadline:

The Writers Guild has reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to end its strike after nearly five months. The parties finalized the framework of the deal Sunday when they were able to untangle their stalemate over AI and writing room staffing levels.
“The WGA and AMPTPT have reached a tentative agreement,” the WGA and the AMPTP said in a joint statement this evening.

Here is the WGA official announcement:

Thanks to the WGA Negotiating Committee.

Thanks to the strike captains.

Thanks to Guild members who picketed day after day.

Thanks to members of others unions who joined us in picketing.

Thanks to pre-WGA members who picketed with us.

Thanks to those who picketed in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago among other cities to support the strike.

By the time the contract is ratified, this will go down as the longest strike in Guild history.

The AMPTP could have presented this deal on Day 1 of the strike. Instead, they thought they could break the Guild.

Wrong!
