For example, Altman wrote the screenplay for McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), Brooks co-wrote Young Frankenstein (1974), Bogdanovich co-wrote The Last Picture Show (1974), and Capra co-wrote It’s a Wonderful Life (1946).
