A series of tweets about the phenomenon which is staffing season.
A series of tweets about the phenomenon which is staffing season.
Amy Berg is a writer and TV producer whose credits include Leverage, Person of Interest, Eureka, Caper, Da Vinci’s Demons, and the current hit Starz! series Counterpart. Recently, she posted a tweetstorm TV staffing season and how to survive the pressures of trying to land a gig in a writer’s room. Reprinted here by permission.
My takeaways from Amy’s series of tweets about how to comport yourself when you get a meeting such as the ones described in her thread:
- Embrace the old saying, “God gave you two ears and one mouth… for a reason.” Don’t talk too much, make sure you demonstrate the instinct and ability to listen well.
- In advance of the meeting, spend a lot of time thinking about the series characters, who they are, where they’ve been, where they might be going, and your emotional connection to them.
- Be a human being, not a crazy person.
