THE WRITERS’ STRIKE IS OVER!

As of 12:01 AM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, the WGA strike is now officially over!

The Guild revealed details of the agreement with the AMPTP and there are wins all over the place. You may check out a summary of the agreement here.

Read an interview with WGA Chiefs Ellen Stutzman and Meredith Stiehm who refer to the deal as “transformative.”

Here are some of the responses to the deal on social media:

I’ve posted an article nearly every day of the strike. Although I’ve picketed here in Chicago, I haven’t been on the front lines like other Guild members. I figured this is a way I could support my fellow writers.

I’ll continue to post article daily until the ratification is complete, but today is the end of a remarkable journey for the WGA. Painful, yes, and all due to the intransigence of the AMPTP. Read the interview with Stutzman and Stiehm. Once the CEOs got serious, the two sides were able to hammer out a deal in five day.

Five. Days.

There was no need for this nearly five month work stoppage. All because the AMPTP is stuck in the past and thought they could break the Guild.

Not this day.

Congratulations to everyone who supported the strike and especially the WGA Negotiating Committee.
