The Write Retreat — Mallorca

This April, a select group of writers will gather on this picturesque Spanish island to work on their stories. I’ll be there with them.

Eight days on the gorgeous island of Mallorca. Writers and mentors talking about stories. Fine food and conversation. This and much more at the upcoming Write Retreat (April 19-April 27).

I was invited to attend as a mentor two years ago, but then the world shut down due to the COVID pandemic. Now with vaccinations and what looks to be a slackening of the disease, The Write Retreat returns. Here are some details of the week-long event.

The Write Retreat Includes:

• Script consultation with Gyula Gazdag and Trey Ellis
• Project consultation with Violeta Bava and Savina Neirotti
• Inspirational walks & talks with Scott Myers and Marietta von Hausswolff von Baumgarten
• Ground transportation from Palma de Mallorca (city center) to Finca Fangar
• Lodging in a beautiful cozy en-suite room to yourself (with a fireplace)
• Incredible environment where you can always find your writing space
• Brainstorming sessions, inspirational talks
• Wholesome & delicious meals (breakfast, lunch and Dinner) made with local produce and love by Deborah’s Culinary Island
• Hikes in the scenic Mallorcan landscape, beach trips and refreshing swims in the Mediterranean Sea

The retreat will include 8–10 writers from all around the world. The daily rhythm of this exclusive retreat allows individual writing time along with perfectly balanced hours of script consulting and group working sessions.

The schedule is carefully crafted to provide dedicated time to get pen to paper. Whilst getting advice and feedback by specially selected script and project advisors.​

​We fuel the creative process with brainstorming sessions in group, and through individual script consultancy.

​We provide long guided (or unguided) walks, solitary time to write in a beautiful & comfortable house. We offer sharing moments with professional screenwriters from all around the world. We create an ideal environment that has the perfect balance of nature, isolation, and creativity!

​With our skills and experience, we guide and push the writer to reach their goals.

​How this came about?

​We met during script-development workshops around the world and identified an urgent need for an ideal screen-writing space. A place where writers can get away from their everyday lives and focus on writing. We often found that there is no actual writing time during workshops!

Coming from diverse background & experiences, we united around the desire to create the ‘Right’ Retreat which is now The Write Retreat.

The Write Retreats are strategically located in pure nature near mountains, sea and wilderness. They are also easily accessible from all around the world.​

 The creative environment of the retreats allows the writer to organically exchange and test ideas during excursions and shared meals. But most importantly, everyone can go back to their rooms and write, whenever they want!

One on One Consultation

We understand that sometimes it can be difficult to find time and come to a designated retreat.
 ​
 For this, we offer project based one-on-one consultation. We dedicate a script consultant who engages in your project and provides expertise in different moments of development.

There’s just about nothing more that I enjoy than talking with other writers about story and their stories. To have the opportunity to do that in a place of such beauty and inspiration… after two years of pandemic living, I am super ready for this Mallorca experience. How about you?
