Spec Script Deal: Untitled Supernatural Thriller

Sony Pictures Entertainment acquires an untitled supernatural thriller spec script written by Gavin Heffernan. Logline being kept under wraps.

Escape Room director Adam Robitel is attached to direct.

Heffernan is repped by lawyer Robert Szymanski.

The WGA-ATA dispute is definitely having an effect on the spec market with the big 4 agencies pretty much on the sidelines, but the occasional deal keeps popping up via managers, lawyers, and agencies like Verve who have signed off on a new deal with the Guild.

Interesting to note: This is the 2nd supernatural thriller spec script deal in one week with another one selling on July 23rd.

By my count, this is the 18th spec script deal in 2019.

There were 26 spec script deals year-to-date in 2018.
