Spec Script Deal: Untitled Jacob Chase Supernatural Thriller

Paramount Pictures acquires an untitled supernatural thriller written by Jacob Chase. Via Deadline:

The new project’s title is being kept under wraps, but the story revolves around a man with a classified line of work who must take his family on a perilous trip while protecting them from the horror he has in tow. It is an ambitious premise and a step up in scale for Chase, with the combination of a franchise-able lead with a rich mythology.

It’s such a challenge to set up original material nowadays, if you can write a spec script which is “franchise-able” and has a “rich mythology,” that could give you a leg up on the competition.

Chase is repped by Paradigm and Affirmative Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 17th spec script deal in 2019.
