Spec Script Deal: Untitled Heist Project

Sony Pictures acquires untitled heist spec script written by Daniel Casey. Via Deadline:

Following the acclaim of the comedy Dumb Money, director Craig Gillespie and Sony Pictures are reteaming on another film in which money plays a factor in the central story. In a competitive situation, Sony has acquired Daniel Casey’s untitled heist spec screenplay, with Gillespie set to direct and Plan B producing.

Casey will also produce with Josie Liang under their newly formed production company Space Bandit, as will Gillespie. The logline is being kept under wraps. Brittany Morrissey will oversee the project for the studio.

Casey is repped by CAA and Writ Large.

By my count, this is the 11th spec script deal in 2023.
