Spec Script Deal: “The Pirate”

Amazon MGM acquires action thriller spec script “The Pirate” written by Will Dunn. Via Deadline:

Jason Momoa and David Leitch are coming on to produce The Pirate, from writer Will Dunn, whose hot spec script was just acquired by Amazon MGM Studios.

If deals close, the project would be developed as a potential starring vehicle for Momoa.

Plot details are vague other then it being described as The Raid set on a pirate ship.

Dunn also wrote the 2023 Black List script “The Peasant.” He is repped by Verve and Think Tank Management.

By my count, this is the 15th spec script deal in 2025.

There were 14 spec script deals year-to-date in 2024.

Note: 4 spec script deals announced so far in August. Seems like Old Times!
