Spec Script Deal: “Rawhide Down”

Global Road Entertainment and Gran Via Productions acquire thriller spec script “Rawhide Down” written by Alex Cramer. Via Deadline:

The script is a true story that chronicles the day of the attempted assassination of Reagan in real time, told from multiple points of view: the Secret Service agents who tried to protect him, the officers investigating the shooter John Hinckley, and Cabinet members engaged in a power struggle as they awaited Reagan’s fate. (“Rawhide” was the code name given to Reagan by the Secret Service.)

Deal is for a reported mid-six figures and is Cramer’s first spec sale. It continues a trend in Hollywood film acquisition and development for historical dramas.

Cramer is repped by Verve and Circle of Confusion.

By my count, this is the 16th spec script deal of 2018.

There were 31 spec script deals year-to-date in 2017.
