Spec Script Deal: “Drop”

Universal Pictures acquires thriller spec script “Drop” written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach. Via Deadline:

After launching The Purge franchise, Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes are teaming on a new thriller Drop and have set Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon to helm and Meghann Fahy to star. The film’s logline is being kept under wraps, but it’s said to be a fast-paced thriller.

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach penned the script, with Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes — producing. Sam Lerner is an executive producer. The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.

Deal announced: February 23, 2024.

Jacobs and Roach are repped by Verve.

By my count, this is the 1st spec script deal in 2024.
