Spec Script Deal: “Dark West”

Winterlight Pictures has acquired the rights to vampire thriller spec script “Dark West” written by Richard Kadrey. Via The Wrap:

“Dark West” is a vampire revenge thriller set on the highways of Texas that follows two car thieves who accidentally T-bone a pair of vampires in the middle of the night. The story is in the vein of the classic ’80s horror films “The Hitcher” and Kathryn Bigelow’s “Near Dark.”

It is an option deal. Kiah Roache-Turner has been brought on to adapt the screenplay with the potential to direct the movie.

Kadrey is repped by Paradigm.

By my count, this is the 7th spec script deal in 2021.
