As a salute to Halloween, how about a cut from the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Setup: A newly engaged couple have a breakdown in an isolated area and must pay a call to the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

I remember seeing the movie for the first time when I lived in Aspen, Colorado. This was in 1978. Midnight show, of course. This dance scene was one of my favorites.

One of the single best things you can do to learn the craft of screenwriting is to read the script while watching the movie. After all a screenplay is a blueprint to make a movie and it’s that magic of what happens between printed page and final print that can inform how you approach writing scenes.
