“You can totally lose your voice when you are playing what I call My Little Pony. At least I do. I have to watch becoming a performing pony because I’m skilled. I can do what you want me to do. I can do that note. I can try and make that note as great as possible, but ultimately that’s not my voice. That’s me interpreting what you want. If you can get in touch with who you are as a writer, this is huge. Who are you as a writer? What do you want to write? What’s your point of view? Not as a diary but as a craft. How would you tell that story?”
