Prep work for me at least is a combo plate of thinking *and* feeling. Go into the story universe to feel my way into the lives of the characters. Step outside the story universe to reflect and think about what I’ve got. But when I write scenes, after I’ve laid them out, when I do the actual writing, I try my best to get into a feeling place.
