The movie version of the opening:

Interesting that the movie version cuts the opening V.O.. Time to reverse engineer the thought process: Probably because during the edit process, it felt either unnecessary … or perhaps excessive.

This raises a point: the value of reading a movie script while watching the film. You can learn a lot by the changes made in the final product.
