This is the equivalent of the "I want" song in a Disney movie where the protagonist clearly states what their goal is. Here Pat States his goal: to get back with his wife Nikki. In 30 seconds, we learned this crucial concern of the protagonist end it remains his conscious goal for much of the movie.
