As you can tell from Page One, Gilroy does interesting things with this screenplay, e.g., change font size, a staccato approach to scene description with short bursts of images separated by ellipses. Nightcrawler is a great read and a good example of how screenplay form is ever evolving.
Page One is a daily Go Into The Story series featuring the first page of notable movie scripts from the classic era to contemporary times. Comparing them is an excellent way to study a variety of writing styles and see how professional writers start a story.
