I’ve written about this before, but the first page of a script… there’s something about having something dramatic happening on the last line. I can’t begin to count the number of discussions I’ve had with other screenwriters about this. It’s not a rule. It’s not a thing you have to do. But if you can land on that last line of Page One… and it’s a whammo…

That ensures the reader is going to turn the page to find out, “What the hell is going on?” And if they turn to Page Two, you’ve already created momentum to get them to turn to Page Three… and so on.
