What I want to zero in on is not so much a theme as a trope: The Old Gunslinger. Imagine Logan as a Western. Logan is a washed up gunslinger. Circumstances require him to strap it on one last time. Logan is Bill Munny in Unforgiven. He’s Rooster Cogburn in True Grit. He’s Leon in Leon: The Professional. All Westerns in their own way.
