Lois, thanks for those comments. I’m not a therapist, however I’ve spent a lifetime as an ‘armchair psychologist’ as a result of being a military brat who moved around a lot and learned the best way to make friends was to *listen* to people, and my theological training.
In our current cultural climate, the propensity of entitled people to perceive themselves as victims, then project their negative personal attributes onto those they excoriate… we live in bizarre times.
Joker does a great job humanizing this one individual’s descent into his shadow self. I have much less sympathy for The Powers That Be currently wielding power in Washington D.C., precisely because they have zero empathy for those outside their social and ethnic class.
