Laura, is the TV series a well-known one? My thinking is that if it isn’t one which is ‘must see viewing,’ you’re completely in the clear. But even if it is a super popular show, I think you’re okay.
Frustrating, I know. I’ve had several story concepts and even two scripts, one completed, the other partial which got squashed by projects which came out at the same time. The one thing you can take away from such an experience: It validates that you are generating commercially viable story ideas.
