Vanity Fair brought together the filmmakers behind two of the most entertaining movies in 2022 — Rian Johnson (Glass Onion) and The Daniels (Everything Everywhere All at Once) for a conversation about their creative process. Check it out.
An excerpt:
The Daniels: Do you know the ending before you start writing? Because your stuff is such a weird engineered machine.
Rian Johnson: I have to, not just the ending. The first 80, maybe 90% of the process for me of the real work is just working in little notebooks outlining. I have the whole thing roadmapped out before I sit down and type a single word. Otherwise if I start typing too early, I’ll just get lost in the woods.
The Daniels answer the same question. Different approach. Watch the video to learn about their process.
