Nominated for this year’s Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, Living was written by Kazuo Ishiguro. It is an adaptation of the 1952 movie Ikiru, a film co-written and directed by Akira Kurosawa. Here is an interview with Ishiguro, who wrote the novel Remains of the Day.
Plot summary: Living is the story of an ordinary man, reduced by years of oppressive office routine to a shadow existence, who at the eleventh hour makes a supreme effort to turn his dull life into something wonderful.
