In association with the Austin Film Festival and KLRU-TV, the PBS series “On Story” is a must for anybody interested in screenwriting, movies, and/or TV. This week in the 11th season of the series, a conversation with John Logan, playwright and screenwriter whose film credits include Any Given Sunday, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator, Rango, Hugo, and Skyfall, as well as the TV series Penny Dreadful.

Quote: “Every morning, I get up and write great scenes for actors which is my only goal. My goal is not to explore great themes. My goal is not to create great drama. My only goal, every single day, is write great scenes for actors.”

This speaks to the truth of this sentiment: Screenwriting = Scene-Writing.
