An April 2, 2022 interview with Aaron Sorkin who film and TV writing credits include A Few Good Men, The Newsroom, Moneyball and The Social Network. More recently he’s directed his own screenplays with films including Molly’s Game, The Trial Of The Chicago 7 and Meet the Ricardos.
This conversation took place on the BBC Radio 4 series This Cultural Life. You may listen to the podcast here.
A quote from the interview:
“The fact is that, for me, the hardest part of writing isn’t writing, it’s not writing. For the first time in a number of years, I don’t know what I’m doing next. I don’t have an idea. When I don’t have an idea it’s impossible for me to imagine having an idea. It’s the scariest thing. My default position is writer’s block. That writer’s block will be interrupted by an occasional bout of having an idea.”
