Interesting analysis, Nester. Speaks to the malleability of working with character archetypes — there is no right or wrong way to use them. It also highlights the value of ‘switching’ Protagonists. We can look at True Grit (or any story for that matter) through the eyes of individual characters as the Protagonist. Mattie. Rooster. LeBouef. Even Tom. After all, they *are* the Protagonist in *their* story.
