Good question, Mike.
It’s all about the characters, really. the Breakfast Club comes to mind as well.
Good question, Mike. It can work. Think about The King’s Speech. When I interviewed screenwriter David Seidler, he said he had first thought of the movie as a play and it feels like that, a two-hander in many respects. But Bertie and Lionel are both compelling characters, an odd pairing with the latter forcing the former to confront some deep psychological issues. And that movie worked really well.
