My interview with 2021 Black List writer.
Brian Arnold wrote the original screenplay “In the End” which landed on the 2021 Black List. Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with Brian about his creative background, his script, the craft of screenwriting, and what making the annual Black List has meant to him.
Here are links to the entire 6-part series which has run this week.
Part 1: “There’s something so universal and human about the looming fear of death, which is the emotion I wanted to ground the movie in."
Part 2: There’s something so universal and human about the looming fear of death, which is the emotion I wanted to ground the movie in."
Part 3: “To me, biggest antagonist in this script is more of an internal thing."
Part 4: “I kind of tried to put Richard Linklater movie in the middle of a sci-fi movie, which was a fun experiment for me."
Part 5: “I told myself, the script’s been optioned. It’s in active development. The Black List would be great, but whatever happens, I’m in a good spot.”
Part 6: “Study the things that you love, the things that you hit you in the emotions. Study those movies, study those scripts.”
