Ed, let’s carry over the conversation about the ending to the Plot post, number 2 in the series. The ending has been much critiqued for the very reason you intimate. It is a case whereby McDonagh absolutely made a choice. It’s not dependent on any of the characters, rather it’s him saying, “Nope, I’m not going with an —[ I imagine he would say ‘easy’] — ending. I’m going for something darker and more in keeping with the surprising twists and turns leading up to the ending.”
