DR. KARL: I like to start by saying that every marriage is savable. You just need two people who are willing to work at it. Okay? Mike, Amy, I want you to look at each other and say three things that you like about each other. Mike?
MIKE: Can I go second?
DR. KARL: Okay. Yeah, sure. Uh, Amy?
AMY: Okay, uh, Mike, I like that you gave me my children. Uh, I like that you pick them up from school sometimes. It’s actually really helpful. And, uh, I like that you came to therapy today.
DR. KARL: Okay, Mike. Your turn.
MIKE: Okay. I like your spaghetti. And you make pretty good calzone. Was that three?
DR. KARL: That was like one and then 1A.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Commentary by Gisela: “The therapist says words she is supposed to say. We already know that Mike is kind of a douchebag therefore we don’t want this session to be successful. From a therapist view Dr. Karl gives up much to early, but it’s important for the plot (and to get rid of douchebag Mike), that she ends the scene with this punchline: ‘Remember when I said that all marriages are savable? Well, it ain’t gonna happen for you guys.’”
