Pat Pemberton: Mrs. Beminger, if you could possibly lift the needle from that long-playing phonograph you keep in your face… [forcing Mrs. Beminger into a chair, twice] Watch this… [to a fellow golfer] Will you excuse me?

She skillfully drives nine golf balls in succession.

Pat Pemberton: [to Mrs. Beminger] You know what you can do with your gluteal muscle? Give it away for Christmas!

Pat and Mike (1952), written by Ruth Gordon, Garson Kanin

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Golf. Today’s suggestion by @KimberlyJurgen.

Trivia: The husband and wife writing team of Garson Kanin and Ruth Gordon were close friends of Hepburn and Tracy. They wrote this script especially for them to capture the essence of their real-life personalities and relationship as well as to showcase Hepburn’s athletic abilities. Tracy really was cranky but lovable and Hepburn really was a terrific athlete. She was excellent at golf and one of the best tennis players in Hollywood.

Dialogue On Dialogue: A great moment in the movie and Hepburn hit those nine balls back to back in one take.
