“I’m not even gonna swat that fly. I hope they are watching. They’ll see. They’ll see and they’ll know and they’ll say, ‘Why, she wouldn’t even harm a fly’…”
— Psycho (1960), screenplay by Joseph Stefano, novel by Robert Bloch
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Final Words.
Trivia: In the opening scene, Marion Crane is wearing a white bra because Sir Alfred Hitchcock wanted to show her as being “angelic”. After she has taken the money, the following scene has her in a black bra because now she has done something wrong and evil. Similarly, before she steals the money, she has a white purse. After she’s stolen the money, her purse is black.
Dialogue On Dialogue: Psycho is an interesting film for many reasons and one of the reasons is the extended denouement. This dialogue caps off that scene.
