Daily Dialogue — March 25, 2020

Sydney Ellen Wade: How’d you finally do it?
President Andrew Shepherd: Do what?
Sydney Ellen Wade: Manage to give a woman flowers and be president at the same time?
President Andrew Shepherd: Well, it turns out I’ve got a rose garden.

The American President (1995), written by Aaron Sorkin

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Final Words. Today’s suggestion by Michael Markowitz

Trivia: Prior to Aaron Sorkin joining the project, early versions of the script depicted President Andrew Shepherd as a military veteran and former Special Ops agent. Rob Reiner discussed the lead role with Bruce Willis and Steven Seagal before Sorkin’s re-writes transitioned Shepherd to a more academic character.

Dialogue On Dialogue: A nice White House bit of business to end the movie.
