Dialogue on Dialogue: This is one of my all-time favorite diner scenes. Sure, the conceit of Joe meeting Old Joe is great, but why I love the scene so much is the way Rian Johnson dispatches all the questions a viewer may have about the time travel aspect of the movie in one line from Old Joe. That’s efficient writing.
