Trivia: This is the only film in the history of cinema where the screenwriter gets a “By” credit. Not “written by.” Not “screenplay by.” But “by Paddy Chayefsky.”

Dialogue On Dialogue: There are several scenes featuring Frank Hackett (Robert Duvall) on the telephone. Unfortunately, the only one I could find online is this one in which he says three words. However, watch the scene. It’s classic Chayefsky, the dialogue and conflict sterling.
