Daily Dialogue — January 8, 2019

“You think when I was a kid I dreamed of running a fucking chemical company? No. I dreamed of retiring. Of being fed tropical fruit on a beach by a model while she blows me. And as soon as I squeeze all the profit out of this place, that’s exactly what I’m gonna do. But first things first. You either fire the fatty and fire the cripple, or I fire all three of you.”

Horrible Bosses (2011), screenplay by Michael Markowitz and John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein, story by Michael Markowitz

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Boss.

Trivia: The screenplay for this film was featured in the 2005 Black List.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Bobby (Colin Farrell) is, indeed, a horrible boss. In this scene, his father has just been buried and he’s taking over the company. First instinct, fire people. Each of the bosses in this movie need to be shown to be horrible in order to sell the conceit of the film: Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness.
