“The Yanks will defend their title.”

Moneyball (2011), screenplay by Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin, story by Stan Chervin, book by Michael Lewis

The Daily Dialogue theme this week: Radio.

Trivia: When Aaron Sorkin agreed to rewrite the screenplay, he stated as a condition that Steven Zaillian name would not be removed from the credits, because his draft was great and Sorkin didn’t really feel he could improve it much.

Dialogue On Dialogue: When you write a character, you look for specific habits and bits of business to help make the character feel real. This is a great one: Billy Beane tracking a baseball game on his radio, turning it on to listen, turning it off because he can’t bear listening. Every sports fan can relate to this. The fact Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) is the general manager of the Oakland A’s makes it all that more poignant.
