Arthur: Stay with me a minute, Hobson. You know I hate to be alone. Hobson: Yes, bathing is a lonely business.

Hobson: Yes, bathing is a lonely business.
— Arthur (1981), written by Steve Gordon
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Bathroom.
Trivia: Four different endings were shot. Director Steve Gordon still hadn’t figured out which ending to use during editing. A rough cut, to which Dudley Moore objected, gave more of a focus on Arthur and Hobson’s relationship than Arthur and Linda’s.
Dialogue On Dialogue: The role of Hobson (Sir John Gielgud) is one of the best comedic supporting actor roles. His character delivers one droll response to Arthur (Dudley Moore) after another as here in this bathroom scene.
