Joe has just found out that Mike was sleeping with his wife.

Mike Mathews: It just happened, Joe. It…
Joe Hallenbeck: Sure, sure, I know… it just happened. Coulda happened to anybody. It was an accident, right? You tripped, slipped on the floor and accidentally stuck your dick in my wife. ‘Whoops! I’m so sorry, Mrs. H. I guess this just isn’t my week.’”

The Last Boy Scout (1991), written by Shane Black

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Private Eye.

Trivia: With this film, Shane Black became the first writer to sell a spec script for one million dollars. According to Time magazine, he was originally offered 2.25 million dollars by Carolco Pictures, but decided to go with Warner Brothers for the lower (but record-setting) bid of 1.75 million dollars, so that he could work with Joel Silver, who had also produced his script for Lethal Weapon (1987). This record stood for 67 days until Carolco purchased a screenplay by Joe Eszterhas, which became Basic Instinct (1992), for three million dollars.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Another Shane Black take on a private eye, this time using his professional skills to determine his wife has been cheating on him.
