Ratso Rizzo: Here I am, goin’ to Florida, my leg hurts, my butt hurts, my chest hurts, my face hurts, and like that ain’t enough, I gotta pee all over myself. [Joe Buck laughs] That’s funny? I’m fallin’ apart here!
Joe Buck: It’s just… know what happened? You just took a little rest stop that wasn’t on the schedule!
— Midnight Cowboy (1969), screenplay by Waldo Salt, novel by James Leo Herlihy
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Bus.
Trivia: This film came out two years after The Graduate and coincidentally, both films end with Dustin Hoffman and his costar sitting at the back of a bus, with elderly passengers looking back at them.
Dialogue On Dialogue: Ratso’s final dialogue before he dies on a bus. Tragic way to go.
