“What’s this? What’s this? There’s color everywhere! What’s this? There’s white things in the air! What’s this? I can’t believe my eyes, I must be dreaming; wake up, Jack, this isn’t fair! What’s this?”
— The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), screenplay by Caroline Thompson, adaptation by Michael McDowell, story and characters by Tim Burton
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Holiday, suggested by Denise Garcia.
Trivia: Tim Burton has said the original poem was inspired after seeing Halloween merchandise display in a store being taken down and replaced by a Christmas display. The juxtaposition of ghouls and goblins with Santa and his reindeer sparked his imagination.
Dialogue On Dialogue: I love this song in the movie, the astonishment Jack expresses at this very different holiday than Halloween.
