“Since the invention of the kiss, there have been five kisses rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind.”

The Princess Bride (1987), screenplay by William Goldman based on his novel

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Kiss. Today’s suggestion by Philip A. McClimon and @TMALPE.

Trivia: Cary Elwes (Westley) and Robin Wright (Princess Buttercup) were so reluctant to end their time with the film that during their final shared scene (the horseback kiss), one or other of them would keep requesting another take for all sorts of made up reasons.

Dialogue On Dialogue: I saw the premiere of the movie. What a delightful experience! Goldman’s dialogue is wonderful and very much in the spirit of the story’s witty tone: “Since the invention of the kiss…”
