Daily Dialogue — August 24, 2019

Romeo: O, wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied?
Juliet: What satisfaction canst thou have tonight?
Romeo: The exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine.
Juliet: I gave thee mine before thou didst request it!

Romeo + Juliet (1996), screenplay by Craig Pearce & Baz Luhrmann, play by William Shakespeare

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Swimming. Today’s suggestion by @drewdellinger.

Trivia: Baz Luhrmann approached the film along the lines of “If Shakespeare were alive today, what kind of film would he have made?”

Dialogue On Dialogue: Water is a motif which runs throughout the movie, representing purity, only to be discolored by Tybalt’s blood after Romeo slays him, symbolic of the stain upon any hopes the young lovers had to be together.
