“I can’t remember the last time I asked the waiter to give my compliments to the chef. And now I find myself in the extraordinary position of having my waiter be the chef.”
— Ratatouille (2007), screenplay by Brad Bird, original story by Jan Pinkava & Jim Capobianco & Brad Bird, additional story material by Emily Cook & Kathy Greenberg and Bob Peterson
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Flashback.
Trivia: Pet rats were kept at the studio in the hallway for more than a year so that the animators could study the movement of their fur, noses, ears, paws, and tails.
Dialogue On Dialogue: The flashback actually has no dialogue which speaks to the power of visual storytelling, but it does provoke the above quoted scene in which Anton Ego’s attitude has been transformed by the meal… and his memories of home as a youth.
