Carol, I agree 100%.

I tell my students: “Bottom line, if you really want to be a writer … you’ll do what you need to do to be a writer. You’ll do it … or you…

Carol, I agree 100%. I remember when my oldest child had just turned one. For about 10 months, I was a stay-at-home dad. This is early in my screenwriting career. I learned to use 15 minutes here, 20 minutes there while Will took a nap to write. I learned just how much I could get done in a small amount of time. Knock out a scene. Interview a character. Write a character sketch. Brainstorm scenes. Work on plot. There is always time. We just have to find it during the day … and use it efficiently.

I tell my students: “Bottom line, if you really want to be a writer … you’ll do what you need to do to be a writer. You’ll do it … or you won’t. It’s totally up to you.” Some tough love, but I believe it to be true.

As you say: “if they really want to.”

Thanks, Carol. Best of luck in your creative endeavors!
