A NYT puff piece on the outfit’s President Carol Lombardini immediately lambasted by supporters of the writers and actors strike.

So … the AMPTP figured the solution to their woes in not-negotiating a deal with the WGA would be to … hire a new PR firm: AMPTP Brings DC Crisis PR Firm On Board As Studios Seek To Reset Strike Messaging.

Apparently, their first PR step: A puff piece … or is fluff piece … about AMPTP Prez Carol Lambardini. That honor(?) went to the New York Times: As Obscure as an Extra, She Has a Lead Role in Hollywood’s Labor Fight.

Supporters of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike were quick to respond on social media. Here is a sampling:

Falling into a snit about The Cheesecake Factory was not on my Strike Bingo Card, but there you go.

This last tweet really gets to the heart of the issue: Carol (and the AMPTP) aren’t really negotiating. They are simply trying to wait out writers and actors figuring at some point we will “soften” our stance.

No, we won’t. This comment makes the point:

This strike is EXISTENTIAL. It’s not like 2007–2008 or 1988. The AMPTP doesn’t appear to get that.

Writers and actors do.
