“A Wish for Wings That Work”
Opus wishing for wings that work. After all, he’s a bird… who can’t fly. Talk about a state of Disunity!

The wonderful holiday story written by Berkley Breathed, adapted as an animated short feature.

Bloom County was my favorite comic strip… ever. And its central character Opus (the penguin) is my favorite character (along with Bill the Cat). I even have an opus doll in my university office.

A Wish for Wings That Work is an adaptation of a book written by the comic strip’s creator Berkeley Breathed. It was produced in 1991, the same year the book was published. It’s a charming story with a simple premise: Opus the Penguin struggles to achieve his seemingly impossible dream to be able to fly.

Enjoy!

The voice cast includes Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman. Always a delight to revisit during the holiday season.
